I was struck this morning by how my kids are just growing up in front of my very eyes!
Dash dressed himself completely by himself for the first time this morning and Jack Jack took two of his shaky wobbly steps. They’re growing up so fast. I can’t believe my babies will be four and one in just a few short weeks.
Some of my favorite things about each of them right now….
Dash
- Laying in bed at the end of every day with him and “talking about our day” together….he likes a detailed play by play from what we ate for breakfast to what books we read before bed. Then he asks me to “teach” him a song and he repeats whatever I sing.
- His little voice saying the expression “yah, I KNOW”. He is so cute when he’s really matter of fact about things around him!
- Watching him figure out the world around him….he doesn’t miss a trick!
- Watching him get excited about pointing out letters he’s starting to recognize
- how excited he gets about friends coming over
- snuggling with him to read books
- how much he thrives with one:one time
Jack Jack
- His pure, simple delight at seeing my face. He gets the biggest smile on his face and flaps his arms up and down. That is the biggest affirmation a person could ever hope to have
- the way he laughs full-belly. it’s an amazing sound
- his gummy smile….no teeth yet!
- his little gimp crawl with one leg out to the side
- how he snuggles his face into my neck and wraps his arms around my neck like he’s found the most perfect place to be.
- how insanely adorable he is in footed pajamas
- his crazy long eyelashes
I love these two boys so much I feel like I could just burst sometimes!

Hi! I like what you've done with the place…it's my first visit to your new blog. I didn't realize you guys were also considering adopting in the future. It's still something that's very much on my heart, but it seems so complicated living abroad. Anyway, all the best with the new blog. I hope it inspires you to write freely. (P.S. I don't think your email contact button is working.)
Aww, I wish I could run over and hug them right now
. I like the new blog too, though the nicknames are taking a bit for me to get used to
.
They DO grow up so quickly. One day they're little helpless infants and the next they're trying out new words and learning how to get around. Seemingly that fast, anyway. I liked McMama's latest post on cherishing them while they're young, because "I'm going to miss this."
So true. I agree with Rachel – getting used to the nicknames, but I do think they're appropriate!
