father’s day is coming!

I don’t know about you, but I struggle to know what to get Mr. Incredible for father’s day that conveys my appreciation & respect for him as the amazing father of our boys!  I thought I would throw out a few creative ideas to get you started and maybe you can leave comments with some creative ideas for me:)

*disclaimer: this is not a sponsored post and I am only promoting products I have enjoyed using/reading, no one is paying me to do so!

1. First up is a fabulous book that both Mr. Incredible and I devoured in about a day.  It’s definitely my new “go-to” book to give as a gift for expecting parents, but I think it would work really well for father’s day too–for new and seasoned dads alike.  You know a book is good when it makes you laugh out loud, get choked up blurry eyes, and causes I-totally-identify-with-that-so-glad-someone-said-it-out-loud goosebumps.  The author’s stories about his journey into becoming a dad, and all that it means to be an involved hands-on dad, were profound yet totally relatable.  Mr. Incredible noted that many of the reflections in the book were touchingly honest windows into the real experiences of a first time dad.  The “Manly Art of Breastfeeding” in particular echoed his own experience of feeling helpless yet wanting to be supportive.

HERE is the link to check out the book further and there is also a free download of part of the book on the site!  And HERE is the link to purchase on Amazon!

2. I am a sucker for handprints/footprints and somehow capturing the tiny hands of my not-so-little-babies helps freeze their littleness in time. We recently did this project together as a family and I love how it looks on the wall.  Daddy doesn’t always get included in the art projects of our home, so this one is extra special for that reason.  You can be as creative as you want to get with this at the craft store, or you can buy a kit online. As Mr. Incredible commented, “The set we bought was complete and easy enough for Jack Jack to participate without a lot of help”

3. Pictures, pictures, pictures–always something you all know I value:) Photo mugs, digital frames, picture collages in a nice frame….they’ve all been done here.  I know Mr. Incredible enjoys having updated photos for his desk at work.

Okay, friends, what else can we give our husbands and dads for father’s day??

At my house anything that does not stick around for a long time is appreciated…food, beverages, is it bad I can’t recall what i did last year?

Another fun idea is to rent a high end race car for a day (ferrari, etc) and let him find it in the driveway. Why not join him for the ride.

I posted more of these ideas here:

Happy Fathers day to all the dads out there!
